Miners Prevail, 4-3, Over St. Catharines
|
The Glace Bay Miners overcame a good performance by St. Catharines first baseman Donall Reed to knock off St. Catharines, 4-3, at Miners Memorial Park. Reed went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Chris Lowe, who is tied for 7th in the N-A in wins with 7, was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-4. The losing pitcher was Ryan Hadder. Glace Bay, at 62-23, is cruising.
The Miners got a big hit from second baseman Adam Mathis. Facing St. Catharines pitcher Ryan Hadder in the bottom of the fifth, Mathis pounded a 2-run triple to right. His 2nd triple of the season put the Miners ahead, 3-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," St. Catharines manager Freddy Coss said, following the tough loss.
