Miners Lose By a Run at St. Catharines
|
The St. Catharines Blue Jays faced a tough opponent in Glace Bay pitcher Dan Thomas, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Engineers Ballpark by a final score of 3-2. Thomas went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Jonathan Harvey, credited with the win in relief, is now 8-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Mike Dineen recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 21 for 23.
Had Ryan Caird not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Caird hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blue Jays.
Caird called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
With the win, St. Catharines pushed its record to 56-30.
