The Huntsville Rockets were defeated, 4-3, by the Glace Bay Miners at Ballpark of Austin, even though Mike Bruce pitched well for Huntsville. Picking up the win was John Manship. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 7 and walked 1. Picking up the save was Matt Westerman, his 11th.

Mike Maynard came through with a big-time hit for Glace Bay. The shortstop smacked a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Glace Bay manager Carlos Acevedo. "It's usually not just one thing."
