St. Catharines Grabs 5-4 Road Win
|
The St. Catharines Blue Jays nipped the Newark Flyers, 5-4, at Newark Fields. St. Catharines pitcher David Tirado, in particular, starred. St. Catharines reliever Bobby Hardy snagged the win, upping his record to 3-0. Jorge Solis shouldered the loss. By defeating Newark, the first-place Blue Jays improved to 47-35.
Kevin Dobson delivered a big hit for St. Catharines. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"David just went about his business, throwing strikes," said St. Catharines manager Freddy Coss.
