Gutierrez on Fire, 5-for-6 Against Tampa
After a 5-hit effort to lead St. Catharines's 23-11 victory over the Tampa Capitals, catcher Marcos Gutierrez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the ABA Class A-level is really something special."

The 25-year-old player earned his accolades at Capitals Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Capitals.

"His swing is getting there," said Blue Jays skipper Freddy Coss, who spoke glowingly of Gutierrez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Marcos did that to perfection."

Marcos Gutierrez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 8th.

In 68 games this season, Gutierrez is batting .281 with 68 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 43 runs and driven in 41.
