Luis Cortez, who is tied for 3rd in the N-A in wins with 8, was locked in. The right-hander led the Glace Bay Miners to a 2-1 win against the Tampa Capitals at Capitals Ballpark. Joel Edmondson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 3-1. Cory Crabtree recorded the save, making him 13 for 17.
John Carter came through with a big-time hit for Glace Bay. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We had a good game plan," Cortez said, "and we were able to execute it."
The Miners lead the Northern A East Division by 5 games.
