Loss Diminishes Fine Performance by Walker
The Glace Bay Miners besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Huntsville first baseman T.J. Walker by beating the Rockets, 8-7, at Ballpark of Austin. Walker belted 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. The win belonged to Chris Payton in relief. His record improves to 4-0. Jeremy Dawson took the loss for Huntsville. Steve Oswald, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 17th save.

Glace Bay won the game in part because of Corey Pope. The right fielder ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Miners ahead, 8-7. For the game, Pope had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Pope, "but we got it done."

Huntsville, at 42-34, has lost 4 straight.
