Grand Rapids center fielder Ben Porter helped his team beat the St. Catharines Blue Jays, 8-5. Porter, who is tied for 7th in the N-A in extra base hits with 33, went 2 for 3 for the Jet Hawks. The Blue Jays, at 30-46, have lost 5 straight games.

Dale Coffey had a big 3-run home run for the Jet Hawks in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Grand Rapids leading 5-4 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Jacob Moline and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Jet Hawks on top, 8-4.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said St. Catharines manager Freddy Coss.
