Miners Win with Late Heroics
The Glace Bay Miners took Mike Maschke's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Miners Memorial Bowl. The final score had Glace Bay getting past the Stallions, 3-1, in 11 innings. Maschke over 8 innings allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 10. The win went to Steve Oswald in relief, making him now 4-4. Brandon Dix took the loss for San Antonio. Glace Bay now has a record of 39-34 with the win.

Glace Bay got a knockout punch from Tony Baker. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"That's how you're going to be successful," said Miners manager Angel Cano. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
