The first-place St. Catharines Blue Jays took on the Glace Bay Miners in front of a spirited crowd.

St. Catharines parlayed a decent outing from starter David Tirado into a solid win over the Glace Bay Miners. The final score was 6-4. The win was credited to Ryan Doran in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Josh Parrish took the loss. Chase Harriger recorded the save, his 13th.

Had Jose Espinoza not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Espinoza hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Blue Jays.

"I still think this team can play even better," Espinoza told the St. Catharines Observer.

The Northern A West Division-leading Blue Jays are 43-29.
