The inspired effort of Tampa second baseman Chris Broadley was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-5, to the Glace Bay Miners. Broadley went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Troy Conner earned the win for Glace Bay. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 0. With the win, he raised his record to 8-1. Glace Bay has now won 3 straight, while the Capitals have lost 5 in a row.

Mike Maynard had a big solo home run for the Miners in the top of the sixth inning. With Glace Bay leading 5-4 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Danny Villa and swatted a home run to left. It was his 6th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Miners ahead, 6-4.

Glace Bay manager Carlos Acevedo was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
