The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks got a rain-soaked win over the Newark Flyers.

Mike Ayres, who is tied for 7th in the N-A in home runs with 12, led Grand Rapids to a triumph over Newark. The final score was 9-6. The right fielder went 3 for 5, falling a triple shy of the cycle. He scored 2 runs and added 3 RBI. Eddie Clickner, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 18th save.

Ayres had a crucial hit for Grand Rapids with one out in the bottom of the third. With Grand Rapids trailing 1-0, Ayres hit a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Jet Hawks ahead, 2-1.

"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Ayres.

With the victory, the Jet Hawks upped their record to 44-26.
