Flyers Absorb 7-4 Loss at Capitals Ballpark

Thanks in large part to left fielder Chris Shamblen, the Tampa Capitals beat the Newark Flyers, 7-4. Shamblen was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 5 runs. Aaron Kent was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Jason Teske closed out the game, earning his 3rd save.
With Tampa leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Shamblen hit a 2-run single off Newark hurler Mike Crain. It was the 12th hit of the season for Shamblen and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Shamblen told the Tampa Times.
The Capitals improved their record to 30-41 by beating Newark.
