Flyers Rally to Win
|
The Newark Flyers took Tom Moore's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Capitals Ballpark. The final score had Newark getting past the Capitals, 4-3, in 10 innings. Moore over 7.2 innings allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 7. Newark reliever Jesse Eves picked up the win to move to 1-1. Jason Teske suffered the loss. Ryan Larkins, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save.
Newark won the game in part because of Matthew Bridges. The shortstop ripped a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Flyers ahead, 4-3. For the game, Bridges had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Bridges.
With the win, Newark raised its record to 36-33.
