Flyers Earn 5-4 Win Versus Ambassadors
|
The Flyers grabbed a win, 5-4, at Ballpark of Fremont, overcoming a fine effort from Fremont pitcher Bob Garbee. Garbee went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Phil White picked up the save for Newark, his 15th of the year. The Flyers have an impressive 46-20 record.
Newark used a timely hit from Danny Cruz to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Flyers ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We've got a great group of guys," Cruz said, "and we're having fun right now."
