Deltaville Earns 3-2 Win
|
The Deltaville Deltas faced a tough opponent in Glace Bay pitcher Dan Thomas, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Miners Memorial Bowl by a final score of 3-2. Thomas went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win belonged to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Steve Oswald took the loss for Glace Bay. Jim Unknown finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Deltaville used the clutch hitting of Tony Gonzalez to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Deltas ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Gonzalez said.
Deltaville has now won 3 straight, while the Miners have lost 3 in a row.
