Flyers Drop 4-1 Decision
|
Pitcher Matt Westerman was sensational for the Santa Rosa Desperados in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Newark Flyers. Westerman earned the win. John Salgado was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save. Santa Rosa now sits at 39-26, while Newark falls to 45-20.
In the bottom of the sixth, Joe West delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Santa Rosa left fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Desperados in front, 4-1.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Newark skipper Carlos Almendarez. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
