The Newark Flyers extended their winning streak.

The Newark Flyers defeated the Santa Rosa Desperados, 6-3, in Northern A action at Keelhaulers Ballpark. Newark pitcher Ryan Johnson had a standout performance. The winner was Johnson. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Dave Kramer.

Newark won the game in part because of Billy Sawyer. The left fielder ripped a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Flyers ahead, 5-3. For the game, Sawyer had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"This team is playing at a high level right now," said Flyers manager Carlos Almendarez.

The winning continues for Newark, with the latest triumph making it 9 straight.
