Newark 41-23 After 4-0 Win Over Huntsville
|
The Newark Flyers downed the Huntsville Rockets, 4-0, at Newark Fields. Stellar pitching by Chris Schreurs had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the N-A in quality starts with 7, handcuffed his opponent all game. Schreurs yielded no runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 6-2. Newark has now won 7 in a row.
Hector Perez, who is tied for 5th in the N-A in triples with 3, helped out the Newark cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the right fielder went 1-3 with 2 walks.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Flyers manager Matt Conners. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
