Gruber Hits 2 Roundtrippers, Jet Hawks Win, 6-3

Spirited fans greeted the Santa Rosa Desperados for their clash with the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks.
Led by 22-year-old Rick Gruber, the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks downed the Santa Rosa Desperados, 6-3. Gruber slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Grand Rapids. Eddie Clickner collected his 16th save.
Grand Rapids used the timely hitting of Bobby Spross to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Jet Hawks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Gruber called the win "an overall solid one."
With the win, the Jet Hawks hiked their record to 38-23.
