The performance of Leo Cortez proved critical in helping Glace Bay beat Grand Rapids, 6-0. The Miners right fielder went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Miners lead the Northern A East Division by 5 games.

Glace Bay got a big at-bat from McCandless Township, Pennsylvania native Craig Carson, who in the bottom of the third hit a run-scoring double. It was his 17th double of the season and put the Miners ahead, 2-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Cortez.
