Jet Hawks Deny Miners, 3-2

The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks and Glace Bay Miners played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Though he had a terrific game, Craig Carson could not prevent his team, the Glace Bay Miners, from absorbing a loss. Grand Rapids won the game, 3-2. Carson was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. Eddie Clickner, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save.
Mike Hedger drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for Grand Rapids. With no one out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Hedger, who is tied for 10th in the N-A in runs scored with 36, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Glace Bay hurler Larry Weese, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Jet Hawks a 3-2 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Grand Rapids manager Sadayuki Nishikawa said.
Grand Rapids occupies second place in the Northern A East Division at 36-22.
