Flyers Use Late Score to Top Capitals, 2-1
|
The Newark Flyers downed the Tampa Capitals, 2-1, at Capitals Ballpark. Stellar pitching by John Huber had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the N-A in innings pitched with 69.1, handcuffed his opponent all game. Newark pitcher Mike Driskell got the win. He's now 3-1. Tom Moore was tagged with the loss. The setback makes Tampa 31-28.
Joseph Morgan had a direct impact on the outcome. Morgan contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Newark up, 2-0.
"Both teams played hard," said Newark manager Matt Conners.
