Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Tampa fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Flyers had to.

The Newark Flyers scored a convincing win at Capitals Ballpark, defeating the Tampa Capitals, 11-3. One of the hitting stars was Matthew Bridges, who is tied for 9th in the N-A in home runs with 10, who went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Ben Cox got credit for the save for Newark. It was his 1st of the year.

Bridges had an important at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the top of the sixth, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Flyers went on to win.

"Today was a lot of fun," said Bridges.

Newark is now 25-32, Tampa 31-26.
