Santa Fe Earns 2-1 Win
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Santa Fe Chiefs and San Diego Fleet came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Santa Fe Chiefs got a magnificent performance from pitcher Pat Hovhannisian, who muffled the San Diego offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Chiefs win at Chiefs Ballpark. Earning his 1st save of the year was Carlos Martinez.
Santa Fe took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Steve McKinstry hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Chiefs fans to their feet.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Chiefs manager Brandon Harper, "I like our chances."
The second-place Chiefs sport a record of 16-17.
