Glace Bay got a strong outing from Roberto Alcaide as the Miners defeated the St. Catharines Blue Jays, 4-2, at Miners Memorial Park. The winner was Alcaide. He threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Mike Faulkner. At 36-18, the Miners find themselves in first place in the Northern A East Division.
Patrick Gentry, who is tied for 9th in the N-A with a .545 slugging percentage, took St. Catharines hurler Mike Faulkner deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Miners on top, 3-2. In all, Gentry had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
