Grand Rapids 42-12 After 8-3 Victory
|
The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks licked the Cottage City Cannonballers, 8-3. Dale Coffey deserved a big chunk of the credit. The first baseman was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk for the Jet Hawks. James Straughn earned the save, his 6th. The win for the Jet Hawks lifted their record to 42-12.
In the bottom of the seventh, Grand Rapids third baseman Curt Holy put his team on top. With no one out and the bases loaded, he hit his 10th double of the year. Cottage City pitcher Julio Matias served it up. Just like that, the Jet Hawks were ahead, 4-3.
Afterward, Cottage City manager Justin Eaglin said: "We've hit a rough patch."
