Miners Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Cottage City Cannonballers wasted an impressive 5-inning effort from starter Steve Sharkey, falling, 2-1, to the Glace Bay Miners at Miners Memorial Bowl. Jim Handshoe, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft, earned the save for Glace Bay. The win elevated the Miners to 29-23.
Glace Bay went up, 2-1, on Mario Aguiluz's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Aguiluz hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cottage City pitcher Joey Dykema shaking his head.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Aguiluz.
