Gruber, Jet Hawks March to 6-3 Victory
|
The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks topped the Deltaville Deltas, 6-3, the lion's share of the credit going to designated hitter Rick Gruber. On the day, Gruber slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Jet Hawks. Chris Brown picked up the win, lifting his record to 3-3 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 0 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Eddie Clickner nailed down the save.
Gruber had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-2 fastball from Mike Garcia, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Jet Hawks a 5-2 lead. It was the 12th home run of the year for Gruber.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Gruber.
With the win, Grand Rapids upped its record to 30-19.
