The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks defeated the Huntsville Rockets, 9-8, at Jet Hawks Ballpark. Grand Rapids was led by 23-year old second baseman Caleb Herd, who was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Grand Rapids reliever James Straughn got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Jimmy Lyles was tagged with the loss. Grand Rapids goes to 40-9. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.

Matt DeLaet played the role of hero for Grand Rapids. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a 2-run home run off Jimmy Lyles to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.

"This joint was rocking," said DeLaet.
