Cannonballers Send San Antonio Home with 3-1 Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Cottage City Cannonballers and the San Antonio Stallions, pitcher Gabe Mondragon was the difference between victory and defeat. The Cottage City right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Cannonballers win. The winner in relief was Jon Torres. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 4-2. Juan Rodriguez earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
With the bases empty and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, third baseman Rob Larsen delivered big for the Cannonballers. Cottage City was trailing 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said San Antonio skipper Will Brewer, "and it cost us."
The Cannonballers saw their record improve to 16-27.
