Flyers Absorb 5-4 Home Loss
|
The Newark Flyers and Santa Rosa Desperados provided some drama for the home crowd.
Newark catcher Jon Owens had a good game, even if his team did not. The Flyers dropped a 5-4 decision to Santa Rosa at Newark Fields. Owens went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Rob Stech, the winning pitcher, is now 3-0. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 1 hit, while fanning 4 and walking 3.
Gary Nahum, who is tied for 8th in the N-A with a .329 batting average, helped out the Santa Rosa cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder was 3-4 with 3 singles.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Nahum. "You've got to get results."
With the victory, the Desperados upped their record to 36-8.
