Miners Prevail, 3-1, Over St. Catharines
|
Miners Memorial Bowl was the site of a competitive game between the St. Catharines Blue Jays and Glace Bay Miners.
The Glace Bay Miners used a great performance from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Greg Forness to beat the St. Catharines Blue Jays, 3-1, at Miners Memorial Bowl. Josh Parrish earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.
The Miners got a big at-bat from third baseman Keith DiPiazza. For the game, DiPiazza went 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Glace Bay a 2-1 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Forness.
With the victory, the Miners upped their record to 27-13.
