Losing Streak Continues for Capitals with 6-4 Loss to Miners
|
The Glace Bay Miners dealt the Tampa Capitals a 6-4 loss at Miners Memorial Park. Leo Cortez, who is tied for 10th in the N-A in triples with 1, was the star on offense. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Picking up his 5th save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Cory Crabtree. Tampa is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.
Had Cortez not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Cortez hit a 2-run home run. The Miners took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"This game is going to humble you at times and you've got to man up and deal with it," said Tampa manager Jayden Gamble.
