Fremont Falls Again, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Kansas City Dust Devils and the Fremont Ambassadors, Carson Rigney, who is tied for 7th in the N-A with a 1.34 WHIP, was the difference-maker. The Kansas City right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The winning pitcher was Rigney, now 2-2. He tossed 7.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. Geoff Lawrence earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game.
The Ambassadors had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Dust Devils going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old third baseman Derrick Banford came to the plate. Banford hit a 2-run triple on a 0-1 cutter from Fremont hurler Steve Adams. It was Banford's 1st triple of the year.
Banford said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The slumping Ambassadors have lost 7 straight.
