Desperados Improve to 22-12 with 2-1 Win
|
The Santa Rosa Desperados downed the Deltaville Deltas, 2-1, at Keelhaulers Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Greg Ricketts had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Ricketts. He threw 5.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Jim Unknown. The 4th-place Desperados are now 22-12, the Deltas 9-25.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Desperados had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when second baseman Jim Young hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jim Unknown and made the score 2-0, Desperados. Young went 1-3.
"Some games build character," said Santa Rosa manager Angel Cano. "Like this one."
