The Cottage City Cannonballers had to overcome a fine effort from Tampa pitcher Alex Gonzalez to win, 4-2, at Capitals Ballpark. Gonzalez went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Chris Wyzard came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-1. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Jack Woolsey.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Mike Smith came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Tampa pitcher Tony Lopez, he hit a 2-2 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Cottage City on top, 4-2.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Smith told the Cottage City Daily.

Cottage City is 13-18 and Tampa, with the loss, 12-19.
