The Huntsville Rockets knocked off the Fremont Ambassadors, 5-3, in Northern A action at Ballpark of Fremont. Huntsville pitcher and Caracas, Venezuela, native Armando Tamayo had an outstanding performance. Huntsville reliever Rich Sargent picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Jim Unknown was tagged with the loss. The win gives Huntsville a season record of 16-14.

Huntsville needed the clutch hitting of Ricky Martinez to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Rockets on top, 5-3. For the game, Martinez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Fremont manager John McNair.
