Victory Over Miners Takes St. Catharines to 12-7
St. Catharines turned a good effort from starter Greg Mortenson into a win over the Glace Bay Miners at Miners Memorial Bowl. The Blue Jays won the game, 4-2. Mike Dineen, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. St. Catharines, now 12-7, has played well in the early going.

St. Catharines won the game in part because of Arsen Maharis. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 2-0. For the game, Maharis had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Blue Jays manager Walt DeRosier.
