In a low-scoring contest between the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks and the St. Catharines Blue Jays, 23-year old left-handed pitcher Adam Mesler proved to be the difference. The Grand Rapids left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Jet Hawks win. Marc Stephan closed the game out for Grand Rapids, earning his 1st save. The win moves Grand Rapids to a record of 10-9.
Some sloppy defense hurt the Blue Jays. In the bottom of the sixth, with Grand Rapids trailing 2-1, Dusty Simeone was at the plate when Grand Rapids scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Jet Hawks to go in front, 3-2.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Mesler.
