Ambassadors Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Desperados, 5-4
Keelhaulers Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Santa Rosa Desperados and Fremont Ambassadors.

The 5-4 Fremont win over Santa Rosa was due in large part to Kevin Bain. The Ambassadors designated hitter was 4 for 5 with 4 singles. The win was credited to Jim Unknown in relief. His record improves to 1-0. John Salgado took the loss.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Sonny Delano came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Santa Rosa pitcher John Salgado, he hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fremont on top, 5-4.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Delano told the Fremont Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."

Santa Rosa, with the loss, is still a stout 16-3.
