Blue Jays Score Late to Beat Jet Hawks, 3-2
|
St. Catharines Blue Jays starter Bobby Maestas turned in an exceptional performance against the Grand Rapids Jet Hawks at Engineers Ballpark, resulting in a St. Catharines win, 3-2. Jonathan Bell, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. St. Catharines now has a record of 7-10.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when St. Catharines right fielder Ryan Waugh, facing James Straughn, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Blue Jays the 3-2 win.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Maestas. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
