In a low-scoring game between Huntsville and Cottage City, pitcher Jamie Green was excellent. The Huntsville right-hander helped his team knock off the Cannonballers, 3-1. Green yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 1-3. The loss drops Cottage City to 7-10.
The Cannonballers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Rockets going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the slick-fielding second baseman Tom Steiner came to the plate. Steiner hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 changeup from Cottage City hurler Chris Wyzard. It was Steiner's 1st home run of the year.
Steiner called the win "a team effort."
