The Tampa Capitals could not turn a fine performance from pitcher David Rogers into a win. Instead, the Santa Rosa Desperados prevailed, 3-0, in 12 innings. Rogers threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball. The winner in relief was Rich Hepler. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The Desperados, now 11-1, have had a terrific start to the season.

Santa Rosa got a knockout punch from Danny Espinoza. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"There's no quit in this team," said Desperados manager Carlos Acevedo.
