Flyers Rally Late to Nip Jet Hawks
|
The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks got a sterling performance from pitcher Jonathan Lamas, but the Newark Flyers still prevailed, 3-2. Lamas threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Newark reliever Jeremy Kirkpatrick picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. James Straughn absorbed the loss. Losses have been rare for the Jet Hawks, who are now 9-3.
Newark took the lead, 3-2, on Andrew Ojacarcu's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Grand Rapids pitcher James Straughn in the bottom of the eighth.
In comments to the Newark Herald, Ojacarcu admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
