The St. Catharines Blue Jays rode a solid performance from 25-year-old starting pitcher Miguel Aviles to a win, beating the Santa Rosa Desperados, 4-2, at Keelhaulers Ballpark. Mike Dineen earned the save for St. Catharines. St. Catharines goes to 4-5.

St. Catharines used the timely hitting of Brad Malasky to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I thought Miguel threw the ball well across the board," said St. Catharines manager Jose Torres.
