The Santa Rosa Desperados downed the Cottage City Cannonballers, 4-1, at Keelhaulers Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Greg Brando had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Steve Shewmaker earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Santa Rosa is off to a hot start at 2-0.

Cesar Sarate's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with a runner on 2nd and the game tied, 1-1. The Santa Rosa first baseman hit a run-scoring single off Jon Torres to put the Desperados up.

"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Brando.
