Newark Upended, 3-2, by Tampa

The Tampa Capitals satisfied the home crowd at Capitals Ballpark, treating them to a season-opening win, 3-2, over the Newark Flyers. Starting Pitcher Eddie Carver was the standout performer for Tampa. The winner was Carver. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Adam Noland.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Capitals had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when right fielder Antonio Gonzalez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Adam Noland and made the score 3-0, Capitals. Gonzalez went 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"I didn't leave too many pitches out over the plate," said Carver.
