Flyers Raise Rally Flag, Beat St. Catharines, 8-6
The Newark Flyers withstood a fine game by St. Catharines designated hitter Brad Malasky at Newark Fields, to upend the Blue Jays, 8-6. Malasky was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Keith Bader came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. With the loss, St. Catharines drops to 1-3.

The decisive blow was delivered by T.J. Crump in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Hernandez to win the game for Newark. The home crowd went nuts.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Crump, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
