Polecats Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Libertyville Polecats, despite a fine performance by Encinitas pitcher Danny Wagner, grabbed a 3-2 win at EBDBBNB Park. Wagner allowed 2 runs over 6.1 innings. Libertyville reliever Eric Volmar picked up the win, upping his record to 4-4. Hunter Saakadze was saddled with the loss. Gabe Thomas recorded his 6th save for Libertyville.
Libertyville went in front, 3-2, on Brian Bopp's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Bopp hit in the top of the ninth, left Encinitas pitcher Hunter Saakadze visibly perturbed.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Libertyville manager Armando Cerda said.
With the win, Libertyville goes to 47-91, while the Eskimo Brothers fall to 96-42.
