The Libertyville Polecats had to overcome a fine effort from Mescalero pitcher Luis Mora to win, 5-4, at Field of the Polecats. Mora went 6 innings and allowed 1 run. John Chapin earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 4-2. Picking up his 5th save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Gabe Thomas.

Had Matt Gilmore not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Gilmore hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-3, in favor of the Polecats.

"Nice win for us," said Gilmore. "Now we'll go after the next one."

With the win, the Polecats are 46-91.
