Thrilling Victory Pushes Mermen Win Streak to 7
The Corpus Christi Mermen picked up a win at Alcoa Grounds, taking down the Alcoa Millionaires, 5-2, in 12 innings. On the mound for Corpus Christi was right-hander Erik Ashley. He played a central role in the triumph. Justin Trunzo, now 5-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Corpus Christi is now 71-58, Alcoa 36-93.

Corpus Christi needed the clutch hitting of Mike Belsito to seal the deal. The catcher swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Mermen on top, 5-2. For the game, Belsito had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
