The Traverse City Bears beat the Rohnert Park Cougars, 5-4, at Ballpark of Greenup. Richard Childs, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Traverse City pitcher Ben Hamilton got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Todd Lukac got the loss. Miguel Soto sewed up the save, his 2nd.

Mike Melin drew 1 walk for Traverse City. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Melin had a clutch at-bat. Facing Rohnert Park hurler Todd Lukac, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Bears a 5-4 lead.

"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Rohnert Park manager Ramiro Mendiola. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
